ADULT COMPUTER CLASSES -- All computer classes will take place in the Computer Lab. Reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (www.fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Events,” select “Sienna Branch Library,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-238-2900, or by visiting the library. These classes are suitable for those aged 14 and up. Introduction to 3D Printing – Wednesday, Sept 4, 10:30 am-12:00 noon. Library staff will introduce the 3D printer and explain how library patrons can print their own designs. Those attending the session will also learn about free websites that can be used to find 3D files or to create their own 3D designs. Prior to the class, attendees are encouraged to create an account with Tinkercad at https://www.tinkercad.com. MS PowerPoint 2010 Series MS PowerPoint Survival Basics – Thursday, Sept 5, 2:00 pm MS PowerPoint: Intermediate – Thursday, Sept 12, 2:00 pm MS PowerPoint: Advanced – Thursday, Sept 19, 2:00 pm Java Computer Coding Series – Saturdays, Sept 7, 14, 21, 28; 2:00-4:00 pm. Adults and teens aged 14 and up who are interested in gaining highly valuable coding skills will have an opportunity to explore the digital universe in this 4-part series of classes on computer coding. These classes will cover the basics of programming with Java, including syntax and statements, classes and objects, and more. Each class will build upon skills learned in the previous class. Those attending the JAVA series will register one time for the series rather than for individual sessions. The workshop is presented in partnership with Unite & Inspire, a nonprofit organization of volunteers who share their expertise with the community. Introduction to Piktochart – Wednesday, Sept 11; 10:30-11:30 am. Learn how to create informative and engaging infographics, flyers, social-media images, and more with this free online resource, which provides templates, icons, and graphics. Build a Website – Wednesday, Sept 18, 10:30-11:30 am. Learn how to design and publish your own customized website using online tools that are free and simple to use.
