Flu Season…

Have you stayed clear from the flu?

Unfortunately, both my kids tested positive for flu A and flu B; even one of our elves came down with the flu.

I reached out to Juliet at Next Level to see what the heck is going on.

Juliet says:

Being on the front lines is tough especially when it comes to flu season! Unfortunately at Next Level, we have found out the hard way that the vaccination is not designed well for strains of flu A.

We have had five employees contract the illness since flu numbers began picking up. Before those of you who have not received the vaccine decide to skip it, remember that flu A is only one of the strains and we have not seen any cases yet of a vaccinated person with flu B.

It’s still worth protecting yourself as much as possible. On the subject of protection, we have instituted some new precautions at our clinics to protect patients and our staff. Surgical masks will be available at the front desk at every location so if you think you or a family member who you’re bringing in has the flu, you can use that mask to protect the ones around you.

In fact, if you want to drop into our clinics for a few masks to have on hand at home, feel free! It may be a little weird but since flu is transmitted through airborne nasal and respiratory secretions, masks are a reasonable way to prevent transmission.

At this time of year when families and friends come together to celebrate, make sure that you’re doing everything you can to stay healthy and keep your loved ones healthy as well!

Everyone at Next Level Urgent Care wishes you a healthy holiday season!
