October is one of my favorite months, the weather this time of year is a nice break from the hot summer days. Now if only I could stop sneezing.
And I love everything with pumpkins! There is something about placing pumpkins in your home that gives it such a warm welcoming. I would keep them up all year if I could, but then I would probably get a violation letter.
Don’t forget about those yummy foods with pumpkin in them; pumpkin cheese cake, pumpkin pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin spice latte, pumpkin smoothies, etc. There are so many great pumpkin recipes, if you have some good ones please send them my way!.
It’s also a great time of year to sit out on the back patio with family and friends and cookout.
Although, most people associate Summer as a time to cookout, but here in Texas I like the fall which means cooler weather and less mosquitos.
Don’t forget when you see your neighbors outside during this awesome weather, riding bikes, playing sports and socializing; make sure to give them the neighborly wave, the one with all five fingers.
As for the children, they look forward to October for the fall festivals and pumpkin patches and especially to dress up and go door to door to trick-or-treat.
I have lived here for 7 years and have yet to stop at the St. Catherine’s of Sienna Episcopal Church Pumpkin Patch until the other day. Not only is it just a pumpkin patch every day in October but they also host a Pumpkin Patch Festival with activities for the kids. (Check the events calendar for more details) Its also a great photo opportunity, and I can’t resist a photo op!
Now the adults may be more excited about Oktoberfest aka beer festival. The Oktoberfest celebration is the beginning of a new beer-brewing season.
Oktoberfest is located in Munich, Germany where it has been held since 1810. Ready to go to Germany? But before you book your ticket, you need to know that Sienna Plantation is having an Oktoberfest right here in Sawmill Lakes on October 22nd. The only thing you might need to book is an UBER! (Check the events calendar for more details).
Sienna Plantation has a ton of events in the Month of October, make sure to check the events calendar and if someone asked how you heard about it, mention you read it on The Sienna Scoop!
Enjoy a pumpkin filled October!
