Not every journey ends the way we expect
Grab a tissue or two….
On November 16, 2015, Nikki Miller was getting ready for work, she noticed something wasn’t right.
See, Nikki and Paul (Sienna Residents) were married in 2013, Paul had 2 children from a previous marriage and they wanted to grow their little family.
Nikki suffered from 2 miscarriages prior, considered IUI, IVF and other things and decided to leave it in God’s hands.
On March 18, 2015 their prayers were answered with a positive pregnancy test.
At 18 weeks they had their BIG ultrasound and found out they were having a BOY, with a due date of November 23, 2015.
His name Zayne Martin Paszkiewicz
Weeks leading up to the due date were pretty normal, in fact Zayne was very active on November 14th, Nikki said.
On November 15th, he didn’t seem as active, although Nikki says “seemed like he had worn himself out”.
For Nikki and Paul their story changed on November 16th.
Nikki was on her way to work and started to get concerned because baby Zayne hadn’t moved. She called her doctor to get in for a “quick check”.
She was 39 weeks along, the “quick check” turned into devastating news, one that nobody ever wants to hear “there is no heart beat”.
Nikki and Paul were going to be forced to say “hello” and “goodbye” all at the same time – no parent should ever have to do that.
Nikki was admitted to the hospital on November 17th at 3 AM, labor was induced and she delivered Zayne on November 18th at 3:47 AM. Immediately after Zayne was delivered, the doctor found a “true knot” in Zayne’s umbilical cord, resulting in a still born.
Nikki and Paul do not believe Zayne’s story is over! Zayne’s Anchor of Hope benefits the Star Legacy Foundation.
